Skeptics in the Pub
Skeptics in the Pub (short for SITP) is an informal social event designed to promote communication and social networking between skeptics, critical thinkers, rationalists and others with similar views. It gives skeptics the opportunity to talk, share ideas and have fun in an informal atmosphere and discuss current issues, promoting skepticism, science and rationality.
Since starting organizing SITP events in 2019, the "Skeptic Youth" team has organized 12 Kaunas SITPs, which were attended by such guests as, prof. Leonas Valius, prof. Jokūbas Žiburkas, Lithuanian Minister of Health Aurelijus Veryga, President of Rationalist International Sanal Edamaruku, Director of "Young Wave" Milda Arlauskaitė and many more high profile speakers.
These events were founded in London, UK by Dr Scott Campbell in 1999, for all those interested in science, history, psychology, philosophy, investigative journalism and how to examine extraordinary claims of all types. A speaker (or number of speakers) is invited each month to present a topic of interest, which is followed by a discussion in a relaxed and friendly pub atmosphere. There are currently more than 100 different SITP groups around the world.
